Summary: "hands free"

This Handsfree works great with incoming calls..very easy to use and voice clarity is great. The problem I am having is with making outgoing calls. I find that it usually chooses & dials a different number than what I verbally requested. Doesn't seem to decipher the name correctly.

Purchased for my wife's iPhone. So hard to figure out, not easy to use. It doesn't understand what my wife or I say when speaking into the speaker. It's very sleek and the magnet clip thing works well, dangit.

Summary: "Blueant S4 - From a Paralyzed User Point Of View"

I've been a Quad paralyzed from the arm pit / shoulders area down
since Dec. of '73. I've searched high and low for a truly hands free phone system for many years. The S4 in combination with my Motorola W490 voice dial bluetooth enabled cell phone have finally made it possible to make and accept phone calls totally hands free. If I need to call a business I voice dial Google411 or Bing411. Other contacts must be in the list in my phone unless I know the number.

The S4 still needs a bit more work on it's voice "hearing" capabilities. I leave the S4 by my head and neck when in bed and clipped on my chest high safety strap when in my wheelchair. When I'm in my chair I'm able to have it respond to "Blueant Speak To Me" about one of every two or three times. It "Accepts" or "Declines" calls at my command almost 100% of the time. It drops off when in bed. I'm sure it has to do with the tone of my voice as well as the location of the speaker. The difficulty in getting it to recognize me is why I only gave it four stars. My cell phone is always within a few feet of the S4 - on my night stand or in my pocket or lap.

I purchased the AC charger and can now charge in an automobile, by a USB port or by 120v AC.

If you have need of a speakerphone for your voice dial bluetooth cell phone or know of anyone who is physically unable to make phone calls this unit and an appropriate cell phone should be considered. It's mobile and relatively inexpensive.

The built-in voice command of "Favorites" with Bing is pleasant. I can find and connect to businesses, get stock quotes, weather, time, horoscopes, movies, news, traffic, directions, cheap gas, travel, sports and more.

I can't hang up the phone. After asking for a command three times the S4 will terminate the call.

I forgot to mention my thoughts about pairing this speakerphone with the cell phone I use. I read and re-read the downloaded from the Blueant website pdf Users Manual. After charging pairing is your next step. Just by reading the manual you would think simply by turning on your S4 for the first time it will find your phone, pair it as a bluetooth device and update your contacts (import the names or entries as they are listed on your phone) and go merrily along to the next step. In a perfect world or isolated case, maybe. After turning on the S4 for the first time it gives you a few steps to follow to place your phone in pairing mode to locate the S4. If pairing is successful it starts "updating your phonebook" in the S4. Mine started and failed twice. My friend Fred who was setting up my Blueant turned the unit off and on twice, went through pairing twice and only then updated the phonebook. Updating your phonebook is a several minute operation. It tells you it is updating phonebook please wait as it works. As you add contacts to your phone one of the default commands you can say to the S4 is "Update Phonebook." The S4 will search for new entries in your phone and place them in your Blueant. If you cannot update your contacts automatically during setup or by voice command you'll have to enter each entry by hand one at a time.

A list of voice commands is in the Users Manual. If you forget or want to know speak to the S4 and ask "What can I say?" and the available commands are spoken to you. Phone Command, Favorites, Am I Connected, Call Back and Redial are the commands I use most. There is Check Battery, Pair Me, Sensitivity Level, LED Light and Update Phonebook also in the S4 vocabulary.

Favorites contacts you with Bing411 service (I assume you must have it in your contacts, maybe not) by a toll free call made by your phone.

I contacted T-mobile (my carrier) to make sure Google411 and Bing411 had no hidden costs. They do not unless you agree to have something text messaged to your phone.

Summary: "Very good handsfree"

Just purchased this to replace an LG solar powered unit that would swell up and not work when hot. This seems to be a very good unit and though I've only had it a few days, seem to work quite well. The first thing I did after charging it, was to download the upgraded software. I had to change up my Iphone contact preferences so that I could get the Blueant to call who I needed, but that seems to work well. The sensitivity seems to be a little weak. everytime I turn it off, it resets to medium sensitivity and it seems that I am too soft spoken for that setting, so I reset it to low (which is odd, but that means it will pick up low level voice). I've experimented with where to put it in the car, since I use my sun-visor a lot (out in the southwest USA), I decided to see if it would mount in the dash area over the steering column and under the speedometer. It works fine there. It will charge off your computer USB port or in the car. I don't know why they made the charger cord so short, it should be twice as long. So overall, I think it's a good unit and worth the money I spent. I bouht this through Amazon, and it shipped from Beach Camera, The price is a little lower on their website, but I'm not sure if they have free shipping if you get it directly from them. If so, you could save a few bucks. I am as comfortable with Beach Camera as I am with Amazon, having bought several products directly from them in the past.
